Universal Geneve Compax

In March of 1946, just months after the end of World War 2, members of the United States Army gathered in Munich, Germany for a basketball tournament. The 1st Infantry Division won the division level championship. Each of those 17 players were awarded with a Universal Geneve Compax, the backs of which were engraved with:

    Service

The service of this watch was completed on October 25th, 2023 and carries a one year warranty from that date. The service consisted of fully disassembling the movement, inspecting and cleaning all parts, reassembly, lubrication and adjustment. During this service, the mainspring was replaced (original included). The original crystal was cracked and discolored, so it was also replaced (original included). This watch arrived to us with the pusher buttons missing, but the tubes intact. We fabricated new pusher buttons to fit the original pusher tubes that are as close to the originals as possible. This watch has also been equipped with a new leather strap.

    Documentation

Included with this watch is an original brochure from one of the basketball games in the series. This brochure details the team standings, lists the teams and their members, and has pictures of the teams and players.

We also obtained a document from the National Archives detailing the activities that were available to members of the armed forces in early 1946. This document references the basketball games and the 1st Infantry Division's win streak.  We had this document printed into a hard cover book to accompany the watch.

    Available Now - $2895
